Imagine a diamond in your pocket. To have a diamond in your pocket is precisely what you are imagining now, and what you are imagining right now is unique to you. That’s exactly a diamond in your pocket! A jewel sitting at the core of any creative act that can be found through self-inquiry and deep listening.
Like diamonds in your pocket presents the work of thirteen artists who have been invited to create or develop work form their genuine inner expression in relation to how they approach, think and work with sculpture today.
Despite similarities in processes, materials and media, that unique jewel inherent to each artist reveals itself through remaining present in the process, responding to only their own inner will of creation, and from there trusting that the outcome will find its own place in time. The exhibition as a whole is a constellation of those particular voices, that invite you to navigate them through the forms they have found across this house.
The artists have unveiled sculpture as mobile, invisible, suspended, sedated, weaved, animated, lightning, swinging, flowing, whispering, patterning, conferencing, simulating, housing, dripping, echoing, resting, clocking, longing. Sculptures as carriers of domesticity, familiarity and estrangement. Just like unveiling a diamond from your pocket.
