Leirsetmarmor (koloritt), syrefast stål, sagvaier for stein

Gundersens skulptur tar i bruk et av Bodøs kjennetegn; vinden. Ved å utnytte fysikkens lover og naturens krefter, møter vi en skulptur som vil endre seg over tid og ha en kontinuerlig utvikling og aktivitet.

I sin praksis arbeider Gundersen med naturen i ulike former, kombinert med mekaniske konstruksjoner. Resultatet er skulpturer som «arbeider» - de er aktive og produktive i relasjon med omgivelsene. I denne sammenhengen arbeider skulpturen med å sage seg gjennom en fargerik blokk med lokal Fauskemarmor.

Ved å bruke den velkjente vindintensiteten i området, kombinerer Gundersen byens klimatiske kjennetegn med den ikoniske lufthavnen – som snart vil gjennomgå store endringer. Hastigheten og intensiteten i skulpturens saging gjennom marmoren er uviss, da den opererer i sin egen tid styrt av vindens mengde og styrke.

Gunnar H. Gundersen (f. 1953) har sin utdannelse fra Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo og Høgskolen i Akershus, og var ansatt som professor og instituttleder ved Oslo Metropolitan University, Institutt for produktdesign. Gundersen arbeider i hovedsak med skulpturer som kombinerer mekaniske installasjoner og naturfenomener. Han har utført en rekke utsmykningsprosjekter ved blant annet skoler i Trondheim, Nesodden, Hvam og Porsgrunn, samt NTNU i Trondheim og Universitetet i Sørøst-Norge på Hønefoss.

Gundersen's sculpture harnesses one of Bodø's defining characteristics: the wind. By utilizing the laws of physics and natural forces, this sculpture will transform over time, exhibiting continuous development and activity.

In his practice, Gundersen works with nature in various forms, combining it with mechanical constructions. The result is sculptures that "work" – they are active and productive in relation to their surroundings. In this context, the sculpture actively saws through a colorful block of local Fauske marble.

By using the area's well-known wind intensity, Gundersen merges the city's climatic features with the iconic airport, which will soon undergo major changes. The speed and intensity of the sculpture's sawing through the marble remain uncertain, as it operates on its own time, driven by the wind's strength and quantity.

Gunnar H. Gundersen (b. 1953) was educated at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and Akershus University College, and served as a professor and head of the Department of Product Design at Oslo Metropolitan University. Gundersen primarily creates sculptures that combine mechanical installations with natural phenomena. He has completed numerous public art projects, including installations at schools in Trondheim, Nesodden, Hvam, and Porsgrunn, as well as NTNU in Trondheim and the University of South-Eastern Norway in Hønefoss.
